Dunnville beats Simcoe 7-3 as Minor gets hat trick

The Simcoe Storm could not stop the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats' Landon Minor, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-3 win.

Minor's first goal came 11:02 into the second period. He then added goals at 12:49 into the third and at 18:06 into the third.

Simcoe fell victim to a deadly Dunnville power play, which ripped the Storm for four goals.

The Jr. Mudcats kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Avery Allen made 29 saves on 36 shots. Dunnville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Jr. Mudcats have scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Dunnville were also effective in the Storm's zone, and came away with two goals. The Jr. Mudcats found themselves short handed often, totaling 44 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays.

Cole Scarlett also scored for Dunnville. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Davis Hart, Luke Rowe, and Dan Arrowsmith, who contributed one a piece and Andrew McMurtrie and Jeff May, who each chipped in two.

Simcoe forced Dunnville goalie Jesse Schoeman to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Storm could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 60 minutes in penalties during the game.

Simcoe was helped by Braden Roberts, who grabbed one goal. Roberts scored 17:02 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Dunnville. Conner Robinson assisted on the tally. Simcoe additionally got points from Jamie Kelly, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Braedan Walker, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Simcoe were Patrice Fozo and Wade Metz, who contributed one a piece.

Schoeman recorded 29 saves for the Jr. Mudcats.
