Chippawa survives Dundas comeback, wins 5-3Niagara Jr. C Head Office Sun, Oct 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Chippawa Riverhawks came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the Dundas Blues, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory. Chippawa led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Riverhawks' Matthew Baldinelli's scored at 15:08 in the second period to put Chippawa up 4-0. The Riverhawks stifled Dundas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Chippawa kept the Blues' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brock Novak made 27 saves on 32 shots. The Riverhawks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Chippawa was led by Alex Cipriano, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Cipriano scored 19:59 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Chippawa. Dylan Leifso also scored for Chippawa. More assists for Chippawa came via Joseph Costello, Curtis Sauve, Thomas Cole, and Josh Gordon, who contributed one a piece. Dundas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Chippawa power plays. The Riverhawks were unable to stop the Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and Dundas eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Blues were helped by Matt Johnson, who finished with one goal. Johnson scored 16:49 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Chippawa. Nick McMullen provided the assist. Dundas also got a goal from Dan Pelosini as well. In addition, Dundas received assists from Cam McConnell, who had two and Chad Carey, Kevin Jaczenko, and Brayden Knott, who each chipped in one. Colin Dunne recorded 36 saves for Chippawa. The Riverhawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dundas incurred 50 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
