Glanbrook hangs on, beats Dunnville 3-1

Jay Creen scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Glanbrook Rangers held off the challenges of the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats in a tough 3-1 win.

Creen provided Glanbrook with the game-winning tally when he scored 11:15 into the the first period. Nicolas Kuiper provided the assist.

The Rangers' Mathew Venturelli was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Venturelli managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.25 prior to the game.

Glanbrook was led by Creen, who grabbed one goal.

The Rangers forced Dunnville goalie Mitch Topliffe to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Drew Jedrzejewicz also scored for Glanbrook. In addition, Glanbrook received assists from Brandon Elliot, who had one.

The Jr. Mudcats could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Dunnville puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Mudcats' offense rang up 35 shots on Glanbrook's net.

Dunnville was led by Austin Golding, who scored the team's only goal. Golding scored on the power play 7:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dunnville. The Jr. Mudcats earned a power play opportunity when Kyle Dumais was put in the box for cross checking. Davis Hart picked up the assist.

The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Glanbrook ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cole Anderson was ejected from the game. Mitch Topliffe made 29 saves for Dunnville on 32 shots. The Jr. Mudcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
