Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Simcoe Storm defeated the Chippawa Riverhawks in a shootout 5-4 (3-1 SO). The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. Chippawa got a shootout goal from Curtis Sauve. In addition to the clincher, Simcoe got shootout goals from Patrice Fozo and Jamie Kelly.The Storm overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Simcoe was down 2-0 after a goal by the Riverhawks' Wade Kenny at 5:35 in the second period. The Storm tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Fozo at 17:03 in the third period. Braden Roberts had two goals to lead Simcoe to victory. Roberts scored at 6:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chippawa and again while 9:59 into the third to make the score 3-3. The Storm put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Chippawa to score on any of its five power plays. Simcoe kept the Riverhawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Colin Dunne made 37 saves on 42 shots. Wade Metz also scored for Simcoe. More assists for Simcoe came via Conner Robinson, who had one and Justin Tatrie and Braedan Walker, who contributed two a piece. Chippawa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Simcoe power plays. The Storm were unable to stop the Riverhawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Chippawa eventually piled up 55 shots on goal. Chippawa also got points from Sauve, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Dawson Ethier, who also registered one goal and one assist. Chippawa also got a goal from Joseph Costello as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chippawa were Matthew Baldinelli and Ryan Johnson, who each chipped in one and Jonathan England and Alex Cipriano, who contributed two a piece. Jordan Witt rejected 51 shots on goal for Simcoe. The Storm incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Riverhawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
