Grimsby survives Simcoe comeback, wins 3-1

The Simcoe Storm almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Grimsby Peach Kings managed to pull out a 3-1 win in the end.

Grimsby led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Peach Kings' Jeromy Hopkins's scored on the power play at 13:04 in the second period to put Grimsby up 3-0.

The Peach Kings were led by Jordan McCarl, who registered one goal. McCarl scored 7:11 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. Mathew Paonessa assisted on the tally.

Grimsby put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Simcoe to score on any of its three power plays. The Peach Kings' offense rang up 37 shots on the Storm's net.

Grimsby additionally got points from Hopkins, who also had one goal and one assist. Grimsby also got a goal from Thomas Rea as well. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Aidan McCreadie, who had one and Nicholas Purves, who had two.

Simcoe could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Storm average 3.5 goals per game. Simcoe could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 42 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Storm were led by Justin Tatrie, who scored the team's only goal. Tatrie scored 15:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Grimsby. Braden Roberts picked up the assist.

Josh Asterino rejected 18 shots on goal for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Avery Allen recorded 34 saves for Simcoe. For the Storm, Braedan Walker was ejected from the game.
