Dundas rides Novak to victory over Dunnville, 4-1

Brock Novak had a standout game with 32 saves, and the Dundas Blues beat the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats 4-1.

Dundas was led by Thomas Dowling, who racked up one goal. Dowling scored on the power play 15:34 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Dundas. The Blues had gotten the advantage when Dunnville's Evan Huckalo was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Kevin Jaczenko assisted on the tally.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:25 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Dundas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Mudcats to score on any of their three power plays. The Blues got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Dundas additionally got points from Nick McMullen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Jaczenko, who also had one goal and one assist. Dundas also got a goal from Garret Incze as well. More assists for Dundas came via Alex Aquin, who had one and Matt Johnson, who had two.

Dunnville's offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Mudcats put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Dunnville's offense rang up 33 shots on Dundas' net.

The Jr. Mudcats were led by Davis Hart, who scored the team's only goal. Hart scored 7:02 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Dundas.

The Blues totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For Dundas, Brayden Knott was ejected from the game. Mitch Topliffe made 20 saves for Dunnville on 24 shots. The Jr. Mudcats ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Team's Cole Scarlett and Austin Golding were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
