Grimsby blows out Simcoe, 5-2

The Grimsby Peach Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Simcoe Storm, and when the final buzzer sounded Peach Kings emerged with a 5-2 win.

Grimsby was paced by Nicholas Briggs, who grabbed one goal. Briggs scored 4:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Jordan McCarl assisted on the tally.

Simcoe was unable to stop the Peach Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Grimsby eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Grimsby additionally got points from Colin Wierts, who also had one goal and one assist and McCarl, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Grimsby also got a goal from Jarrod Peacock as well. More assists for Grimsby came via Christian Gaetano and Brennan Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Storm stifled the Peach Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Simcoe's offense rang up 36 shots on Grimsby's net.

The Peach Kings' Mitch Mathieu stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Grimsby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Avery Allen made 39 saves for the Storm on 44 shots. Simcoe incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Storm, Justin Tatrie was ejected from the game.
