Behind a great game by Patrick Freel, who had two goals, the Dorchester Dolphins defeated the Port Stanley Sailors, 5-1.

Freel's tallies came at 3:51 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Dorchester and 19:56 into the third to make the score 5-1 Dorchester.

Port Stanley's power play was ineffective against Dorchester's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The the Dolphins penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 15 minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. Dorchester had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Dolphins' offense rang up 31 shots on the Sailors' net.

Dorchester also got points from Brendon O Shaughnessy, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Dorchester included Shayne Rhyno and Dylan Salter, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Matt Cormier, Cale Duberry, and Chad Brulotte, who contributed one a piece.

Port Stanley forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 13 minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game the Sailors had been spending in the box. Port Stanley's offense operated below it season average. The Sailors average 4.3 goals per game. Port Stanley forced Dorchester goalie Colton James to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Sailors were led by Zachary Zinga, who scored the team's only goal. Zinga scored on the power play 8:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dorchester. Port Stanley had gotten the advantage when the Dolphins' Brulotte was sent off for roughing. Tyson Corkum picked up the assist.

James rejected 35 shots on goal for Dorchester. The Dolphins registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Team's Rhyno, Brady Veroughstraete, and Colin Hartwick were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Ricky Corkum recorded 26 saves for the Sailors. Port Stanley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Knapman was ejected from the game.
