Lucan completes comeback, beats Exeter, 4-3

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Lucan Irish battled back to claim a 4-3 victory over the Exeter Hawks.

Lucan let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Irish took a 1-0 advantage on a power play goal by Mike Worby at 11:24 in the first period. Lucan found itself down 3-1 after Exeter's Trevor Thornton put the puck home short handed at 14:26 in the second period. After knotting things up at 3-3 on a goal by Zach Beaumont at 13:16 in the third, the Irish got the game-winner from Dylan Murray at 17:37 in the third period.

Murray was all over the ice for Lucan, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win.

The Irish's offense rang up 33 shots on the Hawks' net.

Lucan additionally got points from Worby, who also had one goal and one assist and Beaumont, who also registered one goal and two assists. Nathan Marcil also scored for Lucan. In addition, Lucan received assists from Dylan Brooks and Spenser Talbot, who contributed one a piece.

The Exeter penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Hawks had been spending in the box.

Exeter was helped by Robert Campbell, who racked up one goal. Campbell scored 18:08 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Exeter. Cam Dykstra picked up the assist. Exeter also got a goal from Carter Austin (FAPM) as well. More assists for Exeter came via Conner Preston, Brodie Balcom, and Kalvin Thornton, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Beattie made 22 saves for Lucan on 25 shots. The Irish totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 3-for-11 on the power play. Lucan ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jamie Brozowski was ejected from the game. The Hawks' Dylan Hoover stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Exeter registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Hawks, cody mcintyre and Austin (FAPM) were ejected from the contest.
