Thamesford survives Lambeth comeback, wins 6-5

The Lambeth Lancers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Thamesford Trojans held on for a 6-5 victory.

Thamesford made the score 4-2 on a goal by Kyle Walker at 56 seconds in the third period, and Lambeth got as close as 4-3 when Keith Arnold scored 2:33 into the third period.

Mitch Davies was all over the ice for the Trojans, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Davies scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:16 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Thamesford. Thamesford had gotten the advantage when the Lancers' Logan Ferrington was sent off for high sticking. Stavros Mandrapilias provided the assist. Davies' next tally on the power play made the score 6-5 Thamesford with 3:34 left in the third period. Walker assisted on the tally.

The Trojans' offense rang up 41 shots on Lambeth's net.

Thamesford also got points from Fabio Galante, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Walker, who also registered two goals and two assists. James Toye also scored for Thamesford. In addition, Thamesford received assists from Adam Levine, who had two and Andrew McLennan and Avery Antone, who contributed one a piece.

Thamesford was unable to stop the Lancers from sending pucks towards the net, and Lambeth eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Lancers' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Lambeth gives up 2.2 goals per game. The Lancers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lambeth was helped by Mitch Thomas, who grabbed one goal. Thomas scored short handed 14:58 into the third period to make the score 5-5. The Lancers found themselves down a man on Cody Wuytenburg's kneeing. Lambeth additionally got points from Brandon Robbins, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Lambeth also had goals scored by Tanner Smith and Mike Golinowski, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Warren Hargraves, who had two and Josh Bumpus, Kale Corbeth, Nick Griffin, and Jake Alkins, who each chipped in one.

The Trojans' Alex Hutcheson stopped 30 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Thamesford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Logan Ferrington made 35 saves for Lambeth on 41 shots. The Lancers registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For Lambeth, Matt Schurr was ejected from the game.
