Thamesford blows out Dorchester, 5-1

The Dorchester Dolphins had trouble finding ways to stop the Thamesford Trojans, which beat Dolphins, 5-1.

Dorchester was stymied by Thamesford netminder Alex Hutcheson, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. The solid play of Hutcheson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.48.

The Trojans were led by Andrew McLennan, who grabbed one goal. McLennan scored on the power play 7:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Thamesford. Thamesford earned a power play opportunity when Matt Ross was put in the box for roughing. Kyle Walker assisted on the tally.

The Trojans stifled the Dolphins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Thamesford kept Dorchester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Craig Wood made 36 saves on 41 shots.

Thamesford also got points from Adam Levine, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Thamesford included Alex Lumani, Stavros Mandrapilias, and Mitch Davies, who each put in one. More assists for Thamesford came via Marcus Gverzdys, Liam Billings, and Nicholas Moniz, who each chipped in one.

The Dolphins forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 57 minutes in penalty time. Dorchester surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Dolphins could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Dorchester puts an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. The Dolphins' offense rang up 34 shots on the Trojans' net.

Dorchester was led by Matt Cormier, who scored the team's only goal. Cormier scored 1:20 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tyler Kerr picked up the assist.

Thamesford totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-17 on the power play. The Trojans ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Liam Carson was ejected from the game. The Dolphins registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. For Dorchester, Shayne Rhyno was ejected from the game.
