Lambeth hangs on, beats Lucan 3-1Lambeth Arena Sun, Nov 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Tanner Smith gave the Lambeth Lancers the lead in the first period, and the Lucan Irish was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1. Lambeth took over the lead for good with a goal by Smith at 6:16 in the first period. The Lancers earned a power play opportunity when Spenser Talbot was put in the box for tripping. Nick Griffin picked up the assist.Lambeth was led by goalie Logan Ferrington, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Ferrington will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.86 entering the contest. The Lancers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 19 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:22 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Lambeth stifled Lucan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lancers were held below their usual level of production. Lambeth averages 5.9 goals per game. The Lancers kept the Irish's goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Gantner made 31 saves on 34 shots. Lambeth was helped by Nick North, who registered one goal. North scored 13:50 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lambeth. Lambeth also got a goal from Ryan Pennington as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Trevor Daynes, Warren Hargraves, and Jordan Spavor, who contributed one a piece. Lucan's offense operated below it season average. The Irish put an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game. Lucan was led by Keiron Cobban, who scored the team's only goal. Cobban scored 2:06 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Lambeth. Andrew Purdom assisted on the tally. The Lancers registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Lambeth ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Schurr was ejected from the game. The Irish totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play. For Lucan, Cobban was ejected from the game.
