Garner leads Port Stanley to shutout victory over Mt.BrydgesTritownship Sun, Nov 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Brandon Garner recorded a shutout against the Mt.Brydges Bulldogs as the Port Stanley Sailors picked up a 4-0 win. Port Stanley pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. The Sailors were led by Dalton Good, who had one goal. Good scored on the power play 7:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Stanley. Port Stanley had gotten the advantage when Mt.Brydges' Robert McTaggart was sent off for cross checking. Andrew Fenn assisted on the tally. The Sailors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldogs to score on any of their seven power plays. Port Stanley's defense was surprisingly good. The Sailors allow 2.7 goals per game. Port Stanley's offense rang up 34 shots on Mt.Brydges' net. Port Stanley also got points from Zachary Zinga, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Stanley also got a goal from Tyson Corkum as well. More assists for Port Stanley came via Luke McGuire and Mark Brisson, who contributed one a piece. The Bulldogs' offense operated below they season average. Mt.Brydges averages 2.1 goals per game. The Bulldogs kept the Sailors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Garner made 32 saves on 32 shots. Mt.Brydges could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. Port Stanley registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. For the Sailors, Paolo Di lorio was ejected from the game. Patrick Maziarz recorded 30 saves for the Bulldogs.
