Aylmer uses early goal to top Dorchester, 3-2

The Aylmer Spitfires took the lead against the Dorchester Dolphins in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-2 victory.

Kyle Dedecker provided Aylmer with the game-winning tally when he scored 12:38 into the the first period. A tripping penalty on Tyler Blue had put the Spitfires on the power play. Brad Payne picked up the assist.

Dedecker had two goals and one assist to lead Aylmer.

The Spitfires could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Aylmer also got a goal from Ryan Stapleton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aylmer were Mitch Roloson, who had one and Andrew Baxter, who had two.

Dorchester was held below its usual level of production. The Dolphins put an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. Dorchester kept Aylmer's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dan Black made 47 saves on 49 shots. Team could not crack the Spitfires' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Dolphins were helped by Bryan McCauley, who tallied one goal. McCauley scored on the power play 11:30 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Aylmer. Dorchester had gained a power play chance when Dedecker was whistled for slashing. Gus Ford provided the assist. In addition, Dorchester received assists from Cale Duberry and Brendon O Shaughnessy, who contributed one a piece.

Aylmer registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Dolphins' Quentin Prokopetz stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Dorchester incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
