Turley lifts Port Stanley over Thamesford, 5-2

The Port Stanley Sailors relied on the scoring touch of Tanner Turley, who netted two goals, to beat the Thamesford Trojans, 5-2.

Turley's tallies came short handed at 17:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Stanley and 12 seconds into the third to make the score 3-1 Port Stanley.

Thamesford's power play was ineffective against Port Stanley's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Sailors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 14 Thamesford power plays. Port Stanley kept the Trojans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jake Fonti made 27 saves on 32 shots. The Sailors' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Port Stanley finished with 50 penalty minutes.

Port Stanley additionally got points from Mark Brisson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Stanley also got a goal from Tyler Beaulieu as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Stanley were Dalton Good, who had two and Andrew Fenn, Ryan McDonnell, and Connor Tamborro, who each chipped in one.

Thamesford was held below its usual level of production. The Trojans put an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Sailors were unable to stop Thamesford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Trojans eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. Thamesford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 52 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Trojans were helped by Stavros Mandrapilias, who finished with one goal. Mandrapilias scored 8:48 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Green picked up the assist. Dakota Hill also scored for Thamesford. In addition, Thamesford received assists from Dylan Black, Liam Billings, and Nicholas Moniz, who contributed one a piece.

Port Stanley's Brandon Garner stopped 44 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Sailors registered two goals on 13 power play opportunities. For Port Stanley, Tyson Corkum was ejected from the game.
