The Exeter Hawks could not hold down the Port Stanley Sailors, and Sailors erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 4-3 win. Port Stanley never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Sailors fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Exeter's Kalvin Thornton at 10:46 in the second period. Port Stanley tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Zak Jukna at 1:35 in the third period. The Sailors netted the game winner on the power play at 9:16 in the third period on a goal by Jukna. Port Stanley pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 28 penalty minutes. The Sailors kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Metzger made 30 saves on 34 shots. Port Stanley was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play. The Sailors were led by Zachary Zinga, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dalton Good also scored for Port Stanley. In addition, Port Stanley received assists from Tyson Corkum and Findley Brandon, who contributed one a piece. Exeter forced Port Stanley goalie Ricky Corkum to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Hawks were helped by Jesse McIntyre, who grabbed one goal. McIntyre scored 1:49 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Exeter. Cody Hern assisted on the tally. Exeter also got a goal from Joe Dykstra as well. Other players who recorded assists for Exeter were Trevor Thornton, Chiristopher Pfaff, and Jacob MacDougall, who each chipped in one. Corkum recorded 35 saves for the Sailors. Exeter incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. |
