Aylmer boosted by Black's play in net, beats Port Stanley 2-1

Dan Black had a standout game with 29 saves, and the Aylmer Spitfires beat the Port Stanley Sailors 2-1.

Aylmer was led by Kyle Dedecker, who racked up one goal. Dedecker scored 14:39 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Aylmer. Brad Payne provided the assist.

The Spitfires stifled Port Stanley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Aylmer also got a goal from Matthew Reese as well. Other players who recorded assists for Aylmer were Cody Underhill, who had one.

The Sailors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Aylmer to score on any of its four power plays. Port Stanley's offense operated below it season average. The Sailors put an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game.

Port Stanley was led by Ryan McDonnell, who scored the team's only goal. McDonnell scored 10:35 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Andrew Fenn picked up the assist.

The Spitfires incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brandon Garner rejected 23 shots on goal for the Sailors. Port Stanley incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
