Dorchester survives Exeter comeback, wins 5-3South Huron Rec Centre Fri, Sep 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dorchester Dolphins came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Exeter Hawks, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory. Dorchester led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Dolphins' Brendon O Shaughnessy's scored at 17:56 in the first period to put Dorchester up 3-0. O Shaughnessy had a great game for the Dolphins, netting two goals. In the losing effort, Exeter was paced by Trevor Thornton, who tallied two goals and one assist. Thornton scored the first of his two goals short handed at 3:24 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Dorchester. A kneeing call on Cody Kropf put the Hawks on the penalty kill. Kalvin Thornton picked up the assist. Thornton's next tally short handed made the score 4-3 Dorchester with 10:44 left in the third period. Thornton assisted on the tally. Dorchester forced Exeter goalie Joe Metzger to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Team could not crack the Hawks' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. Dorchester additionally got points from Connor Lovell, who also had one goal and one assist. Dorchester also got a goal from Jesiah Sweetland as well. More assists for Dorchester came via Cale Duberry, who had two and Connor McKay, Brady Veroughstraete, Patrick Freel, Chad Brulotte, Tommy Prokes, and Bryan McCauley, who each chipped in one. Brodie Balcom also scored for Exeter. In addition, Exeter received assists from Nick Laporte, who had one and Braedon Van Hooydoak, who had two. Craig Wood rejected 20 shots on goal for the Dolphins. Dorchester incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Metzger recorded 46 saves for Exeter. The Hawks incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Exeter ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chiristopher Pfaff was ejected from the game.
