Thamesford falls to Lambeth in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Thamesford District Rec Fri, Sep 20, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Justin Clark gave the Lambeth Lancers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Thamesford Trojans when he scored 2:31 into the extra period. Lambeth nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Lancers made it 4-2 on a power play goal by Jake Alkins at 2:39 in the third period. Thamesford pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Andrew McLennan at 8:10 in the third period. Lambeth got the win with help from a great game by Clark, who had two goals and one assist. Clark scored the first of his two goals at 7:03 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lambeth. Nick North provided the assist. Clark's next tally made the score 5-4 Lambeth with 17:29 left in overtime. The Lancers earned a power play opportunity when Brad Chambers was put in the box for high sticking. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:56 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Lambeth forced the Trojans goalie Jake Fonti to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Lancers found themselves short handed often, totaling 57 penalty minutes and allowing 15 power plays. Kale Corbeth also scored for Lambeth. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Nick Griffin, who had one and Warren Hargraves, who had two. Lambeth was unable to stop Thamesford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Trojans eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Thamesford was led by Adam Levine, who registered three goals. In addition, Thamesford received assists from James Toye and Marcus Gverzdys, who each chipped in one and Fabio Galante and Kyle Walker, who contributed two a piece. JP Trudell made 32 saves for the Lancers on 36 shots. Lambeth registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. The Lancers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Trevor Daynes was ejected from the game. The Trojans' Fonti stopped 32 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Thamesford ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. For the Trojans, Toye was ejected from the game.
