Exeter penalty kill dominates in 4-1 defeat of North Middlesex

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Exeter Hawks were able to defeat the North Middlesex Stars, 4-1.

Exeter was led by Jacob MacDougall, who had one goal. MacDougall scored on the power play 8:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Exeter. The Hawks had gained a power play chance when Nolan Vlasman was whistled for tripping. Jesse McIntyre picked up the assist.

Exeter kept North Middlesex's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Foster made 34 saves on 38 shots. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

Exeter additionally got points from Trevor Thornton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Kalvin Thornton, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and McIntyre, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cody McIntyre also scored for Exeter. More assists for Exeter came via Joe Metzger, Brodie Balcom, and Brandon Willis, who each chipped in one.

The Stars were led by Brady Smith (APM), who scored the team's only goal. Smith (APM) scored on the power play 11:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Middlesex. North Middlesex had gotten the advantage when Exeter's MacDougall was sent off for high sticking. Josh Bilodeau assisted on the tally.

The Hawks' Metzger stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Exeter registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. The Stars incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
