Paris rips Burford, 7-3

The Burford Bulldogs had trouble finding ways to stop the Paris Mounties, which beat Bulldogs, 7-3.

Brady Wheelans had a great game for Paris, netting two goals. Wheelans found the back of the net 17:25 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Paris and again while on the power play 8:11 into the second to make the score 5-3 Paris.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:52 into the third period. Five fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Mounties were often in penalty trouble, totaling 13 minors and three majors for 41 minutes in penalty time. Paris had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Mounties bested their season scoring average. Paris averages 4.5 goals per game.

Paris additionally got points from Clayton Chalmers, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Richard Brooks, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Ian Fowler, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Paris included Graham Kitching and Brett Wilson, who each put in one. More assists for Paris came via Matthew Small, who had two and Brett Banks, Tye Calder, and Brodie Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Burford forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 15 minors and four majors for 100 minutes in penalty time. The Bulldogs surpassed its season average of 35.0 penalty minutes per game. Burford's offense rang up 41 shots on the Mounties' net.

The Bulldogs were led by J.J. Harland, who registered one goal and two assists. Harland scored 17:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Paris. Kyle Chaney provided the assist. Burford also got points from Tyler Vandenbussche, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Adam Harris, who also racked up one goal and one assist.

Zach Schompe rejected 38 shots on goal for Paris. The Mounties registered three goals on 20 power play opportunities. For Paris, Calder, Zach Taylor, and Daniel Puglise were ejected from the contest. Burford's Riley Edwards stopped 19 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Bulldogs registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Team's Chaney, Blaise Burtnick, Tommy Smith, and Hugh Carson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
