Huge game by Wheelans boosts Paris over Wellesley, 7-4

Brady Wheelans had two goals and three assists to lead the Paris Mounties to a 7-4 victory over the Wellesley Applejacks.

Wheelans' tallies came at 17:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris and 5:25 into the second to make the score 2-0 Paris.

Paris kept Wellesley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brayden Bruce made 50 saves on 57 shots. The Mounties' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Paris averages 4.4 goals per contest. Team could not crack the Applejacks' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Mounties got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Paris could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Paris also got points from Tye Calder, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Paris included Zack Skubnik, Graham Kitching, Richard Brooks, and Daniel Puglise, who scored one goal each. In addition, Paris received assists from Ian Fowler, who had five and Clayton Chalmers and Scott Sippel, who each chipped in one.

Wellesley's offense rang up 37 shots on the Mounties' net.

The Applejacks were led by Devon Wagner, who tallied one goal and one assist. Wagner scored on the power play 6:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Paris. Wellesley had taken the advantage when Paris' Jacob Norcott got sent off for interference. Reid Denstedt assisted on the tally. Wellesley additionally got points from Alex Stoody, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Wellesley also had goals scored by Luke Rose and Sean McEwan, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Brett MacDonald, who had two and Blake Hetherington and Chris Beauchene, who contributed one a piece.

Zach Schompe rejected 33 shots on goal for the Mounties. The Applejacks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
