Delhi Community Centre    Fri, Jan 10, 2014

The Delhi Travellers almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the Burford Bulldogs managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

Burford led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Bulldogs' Tyler Vandenbussche's scored at 3:18 in the third period to put Burford up 6-2.

The Bulldogs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Burford was led by J.J. Harland, who racked up one goal and one assist. Harland scored 9:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Burford. Kyle Chaney picked up the assist.

The Bulldogs forced Delhi goalie Jordan Ironside to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Burford bested its season scoring average. This season, the Bulldogs average 3.2 goals per contest.

Burford also got points from Chaney, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Burford included Hayden Cox, Branden Hill, and Jesse Brooks, who each put in one. More assists for Burford came via Adam Harris, who had two and Chris Grand and Matt Kliewer, who contributed one a piece.

The Travellers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Burford power plays. Burford was unable to stop Delhi from sending pucks towards the net, and the Travellers eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Delhi was helped by Mike DeCoene, who tallied two goals. DeCoene scored the first of his two goals at 13:42 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Burford.
