Paris penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of Tavistock

The Tavistock Braves failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Paris Mounties shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2.

Paris was led by Scott Sippel, who had one goal. Sippel scored short handed 12:42 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Paris. A spearing call on Brodie Smith put the Mounties on the penalty kill. Richard Brooks picked up the assist.

Paris stifled Tavistock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mounties could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Paris additionally got points from Brian Mueller, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brady Wheelans, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Brooks, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Paris also got a goal from Ian Fowler as well. More assists for Paris came via Brett Banks and Clayton Chalmers, who each chipped in one.

The Braves were helped by Tyson Zehr AP, who had one goal. Zehr AP scored 14:55 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Tavistock. Derek Hyde provided the assist. Tavistock also got points from Hyde, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Darcey Butler and Neals Vanweley, who contributed one a piece.

Paris' Zach Schompe stopped 21 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Mounties registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Paris ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tye Calder was ejected from the game. Jason Miller made 17 saves for Tavistock on 22 shots. The Braves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
