Wellesley boosted by Heer's play in net, beats Burford 4-1Burford Community Centre Sun, Dec 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Josh Heer had a standout game with 33 saves, and the Wellesley Applejacks beat the Burford Bulldogs 4-1. Wellesley was paced by Cody Tapsell, who racked up one goal. Tapsell scored 18:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wellesley. Devon Wagner picked up the assist. The Applejacks stifled Burford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs were unable to stop Wellesley from sending pucks towards the net, and the Applejacks eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Wellesley additionally got points from Wagner, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Wellesley also had goals scored by Alex Stoody and Sean McEwan, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Felix Lantaigne, Luke Rose, Brett MacDonald, and Parker Wood, who contributed one a piece. Burford put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wellesley to score on any of its 11 power plays. The Bulldogs' offense operated below they season average.
