Paris wins tough contest against Burford, 4-2

Burford Community Centre    Sun, Dec 01, 2013

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Paris Mounties escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Burford Bulldogs.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Ian Fowler's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Fowler had two goals and one assist to lead Paris. Fowler scored the first of his two goals short handed at 19:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Paris. The Mounties played down a man on Richard Brooks's cross checking. Brett Banks assisted on the tally. Fowler's next tally short handed made the score 4-2 Paris with 13:41 left in the third period. Brady Wheelans picked up the assist.

Burford's power play was ineffective against Paris' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Mounties excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Bulldogs were unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Paris also got a goal from Hunter Moore as well. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Scott Sippel, who had one.

Burford's offense rang up 38 shots on Paris' net.

The Bulldogs were helped by Adam Harris, who finished with one goal. Harris scored 7:17 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Burford. Tyler Vandenbussche provided the assist. Tommy Smith also scored for Burford. In addition, Burford received assists from Hayden Cox and Austin Elkin, who each chipped in one.
