Paris wins tough contest against Norwich, 4-2Brant Sports Complex Sat, Nov 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Paris Mounties gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Norwich Merchants. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Brady Wheelans secured the win for Paris with a goal in the third period. The Mounties got the win thanks to a great game by Wheelans, who had one goal and two assists. Wheelans scored 8:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Paris. Ian Fowler provided the assist. Paris put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Norwich to score on any of its five power plays. Paris additionally got points from Brodie Smith, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Fowler, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Scott Sippel also scored for Paris. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Matthew Small and Merrit Crumback, who each chipped in one. The Merchants did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Norwich puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. The Merchants kept the Mounties' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Masters made 32 saves on 34 shots. Norwich was helped by Drake Morrell, who finished with one goal. Morrell scored 3:18 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Mitchell Berzins picked up the assist. Norwich also got a goal from Todd Poirier as well. In addition, Norwich received assists from Josh Herreman, who had one. Paris incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Zac Easveld made 23 saves for the Merchants on 27 shots. Norwich incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
