Wellesley outlasts Delhi, 6-4Delhi Community Centre Wed, Nov 27, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wellesley Applejacks and the Delhi Travellers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Wellesley made the most of its opportunities and won, 6-4. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brett MacDonald at 13:20 of the second period. Luke Rose had a great game for the Applejacks, netting two goals. Rose scored at 16:49 into the first period to make the score 3-3 and again while 9:53 into the third to make the score 6-4 Wellesley. Wellesley's Josh Heer was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Heer certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.49 entering the contest. The Applejacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Wellesley's offense rang up 37 shots on Delhi's net. Wellesley also got points from Alex Stoody, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Wellesley also had goals scored by Reid Denstedt and Sean McEwan, who each put in one. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Felix Lantaigne and Devon Wagner, who contributed one a piece and Blake Hetherington and Cody Tapsell, who each chipped in two. The Applejacks were unable to stop the Travellers from sending pucks towards the net, and Delhi eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Travellers were helped by Kelsey Vanyermen, who had one goal. Vanyermen scored 10:57 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Delhi. Jeremy Jacobs assisted on the tally. Delhi additionally got points from new player, who also registered one goal and one assist and Michael Thomlison, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Taylor Hockley also scored for Delhi. More assists for Delhi came via Steve Barati and Gavin Crandall, who contributed one a piece. Wellesley incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Applejacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chris Beauchene was ejected from the game. Nick Heath rejected 31 shots on goal for Delhi. The Travellers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
