Paris rips Burford, 5-1Burford Community Centre Sun, Nov 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burford Bulldogs had trouble finding ways to stop the Paris Mounties, which beat Bulldogs, 5-1. Paris got the win with help from a great game by Brodie Smith, who had two goals and one assist. Smith scored the first of his two goals at 12:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Paris. Ian Fowler picked up the assist. Smith's next tally made the score 5-1 Paris with 30 seconds left in the third period. The Mounties had taken the advantage when Burford's Matt Kliewer got sent off for head contact. Jacob Norcott provided the assist. Paris' Andrew Masters was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Masters will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.71. The Mounties excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Bulldogs were unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Paris additionally got points from Zack Skubnik, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Paris included Brady Wheelans and Merrit Crumback, who scored one goal each. More assists for Paris came via Matthew Small, Tye Calder, and Scott Sippel, who contributed one a piece. Burford did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bulldogs average 3.3 goals per game. Burford's offense rang up 31 shots on Paris' net. The Bulldogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game. Burford was led by Peter Janeck, who scored the team's only goal. Janeck scored short handed 10:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Paris. The Bulldogs played down a man on Kolby Francis's slashing. The Mounties incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Rene Kloepher made 29 saves for Burford on 34 shots. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hugh Carson was ejected from the game.
