Stoody nets hat trick, leads Wellesley to 5-2 win over DelhiWellesley Sat, Nov 09, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Alex Stoody was the highlight in Applejacks' 5-2 win against the Delhi Travellers. Stoody's first goal came 19:22 into the second period. He then added goals at 7:53 into the third and at 11:19 into the third.The Wellesley Applejacks stifled Delhi's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wellesley kept the Travellers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Ironside made 39 saves on 44 shots. Wellesley additionally got points from Devon Wagner, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Reid Denstedt also scored for Wellesley. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Brett MacDonald, who had two and Taylor Doering and Justin Lebold, who contributed one a piece. Delhi forced the Applejacks goalie Josh Heer to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Travellers were led by Justin Plant, who finished with one goal and one assist. Plant scored 6:01 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Delhi also got a goal from Mike DeCoene as well. Josh Heer made 34 saves for Wellesley on 36 shots. The Applejacks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Delhi incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
