Norwich rips Burford, 7-1Norwich Community Center Fri, Nov 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burford Bulldogs had trouble finding ways to stop the Norwich Merchants, which beat Bulldogs, 7-1. Norwich was led by Brandon Zimmermann, who registered one goal. Zimmermann scored 15:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Norwich. Kurtis Lavis provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:00 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Merchants made Burford's netminders to work in net, racking up 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Riley Edwards made 17 stops and Nick Trask made eight. Norwich outdid its season average for goals scored. The Merchants average 4.6 goals per game. Norwich also had goals scored by Todd Poirier, who had one, Drake Morrell, who had two, and Ryan Stephenson, who had three. More assists for Norwich came via Todd Kemp, Mitchell Berzins, Derek Slaght, Brandon Morrow, and Taylor Gosset, who contributed one a piece and Braeden Shand and Josh Herreman, who each chipped in two. The Bulldogs' offense operated below they season average. Burford averages 3.1 goals per game. The Bulldogs were led by Hayden Cox, who scored the team's only goal. Cox scored 5:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Norwich. Branden Hill picked up the assist. Zac Easveld took the win and made 13 saves before being replaced by Perry Robinson who made nine saves. Norwich totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Merchants ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Shand was ejected from the game. Burford totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Team's Tyler Vandenbussche and cole malatches were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
