Behind two goals from Blake Hetherington and three goals Brett MacDonald, the Wellesley Applejacks downed the Paris Mounties 8-5. Hetherington scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:00 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Wellesley. Wellesley earned a power play opportunity when Kamden Hughes was put in the box for slashing. Reid Denstedt provided the assist. Hetherington's next tally on the power play made the score 6-4 Wellesley with 6:33 left in the third period. Denstedt picked up the assist.The Applejacks' offense rang up 54 shots on Paris' net. Wellesley bested its season scoring average. The Applejacks average 4.4 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on Wellesley, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Wellesley also got points from Parker Wood, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Alex Stoody also scored for Wellesley. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Luke Rose, who had one and Troy Williams and Sean McEwan, who each chipped in two. The Mounties kept the Applejacks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Josh Heer made 36 saves on 41 shots. Paris was led by Clayton Chalmers, who racked up two goals and two assists. Chalmers scored the first of his two goals at 17:42 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Brodie Smith assisted on the tally. Chalmers' next tally made the score 7-5 Wellesley with 49 seconds left in the third period. Graham Kitching picked up the assist. Paris additionally got points from Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist. Paris also got a goal from Merrit Crumback as well. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Brett Banks, Mitchell Harvey, Brian Mueller, and Scott Sippel, who contributed one a piece. Wellesley incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Andrew Masters rejected 46 shots on goal for the Mounties. Paris incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
