Shand lifts Norwich over Tavistock, 4-1

Behind a great game by Braeden Shand, who had two goals, the Norwich Merchants defeated the Tavistock Braves, 4-1.

Shand's tallies came at 5:53 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Norwich and on the power play 8:06 into the second to make the score 2-0 Norwich.

Norwich's Zac Easveld was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. Easveld managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.91 prior to the game.

The Merchants' penalty kill excelled, as Norwich gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

The Merchants stifled Tavistock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Norwich's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Merchants finished with 32 penalty minutes.

Norwich also got points from Todd Poirier, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Norwich also got a goal from Drake Morrell as well. In addition, Norwich received assists from Brandon Zimmermann, who had one and Nick Burdett, who had two.

The Braves were led by Angus Rowland AP, who scored the team's only goal. Rowland AP scored 1:09 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Norwich. Mackenzie Kalbfleisch provided the assist.

Norwich registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Tavistock's Trevor Bloch stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Braves incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
