Norwich downs Paris, 5-2

Todd Poirier had two points to lead the Norwich Merchants to a 5-2 victory over the Paris Mounties.

The defensemen of Norwich were also effective in Paris' zone, and came away with two goals.

Norwich additionally got points from Braeden Shand, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Norwich also got a goal from Nick Burdett as well. In addition, Norwich received assists from Kurtis Lavis, Mitchell Berzins, Troy Lamoure, and Josh Herreman, who each chipped in one.

The Merchants were unable to stop the Mounties from sending pucks towards the net, and Paris eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Mounties gave up more goals than its normal season average. Paris is averaging 2.2 goals against for the season.

The Mounties were helped by Zack Hedley, who finished with one goal. Hedley scored 17:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brady Wheelans provided the assist. Jacob Norcott also scored for Paris. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Mitchell Harvey and Clayton Chalmers, who contributed one a piece.

Zac Easveld recorded 31 saves for Norwich. The Merchants incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Norwich, Taylor Gosset was ejected from the game. Paris' starting goalie, Zach Schompe, made 12 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Andrew Masters, who stopped 10 shots. The Mounties incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
