Huge game by Zimmermann boosts Norwich over Paris, 5-2

Brandon Zimmermann had two goals and one assist to lead the Norwich Merchants to a 5-2 victory over the Paris Mounties.

Zimmermann found the back of the net 17:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Norwich and again while 5:28 into the second to make the score 2-1 Norwich.

Paris' power play was ineffective against Norwich's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Merchants' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Paris power plays. The Mounties were unable to stop Norwich from sending pucks towards the net, and the Merchants eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Norwich also got points from Drake Morrell, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Derek Slaght also scored for Norwich. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Nick Burdett, Mitchell Berzins, and Braeden Shand, who each chipped in one.

Paris forced Norwich goalie Zac Easveld to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. The Mounties' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Paris is averaging 2.0 goals against for the season.

The Mounties were helped by Ian Fowler, who grabbed one goal. Fowler scored 19:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zack Skubnik provided the assist. Paris also got a goal from Richard Brooks as well. More assists for Paris came via Brian Mueller and Clayton Chalmers, who contributed one a piece.

Easveld recorded 41 saves for the Merchants. Norwich incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Andrew Masters made 33 saves for Paris on 37 shots. The Mounties incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
