Paris' comeback falls short, Norwich wins 3-1Norwich Community Center Fri, Oct 25, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Paris Mounties almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Norwich Merchants managed to pull out a 3-1 win in the end. Norwich led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Merchants' Troy Lamoure's scored at 8:52 in the second period to put Norwich up 4-1. The Merchants' Zac Easveld was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Easveld managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.14 prior to the game. Norwich's penalty kill excelled, as the Merchants gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. Norwich's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Merchants were led by Kurtis Lavis, who racked up one goal. Lavis scored on the power play 1:21 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Norwich. Norwich had gained a power play chance when Clayton Chalmers was whistled for slashing. Mitchell Berzins assisted on the tally. Norwich also got points from Berzins, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Norwich also got a goal from Derek Slaght as well. Paris could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Mounties put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. Paris' offense rang up 35 shots on the Merchants' net. In addition, Paris received assists from Brett Banks and Ian Fowler, who each chipped in one. Norwich incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Zach Schompe rejected 26 shots on goal for the Mounties. Paris incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
