Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Burford Bulldogs defeated the Tavistock Braves in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.Burford came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Bulldogs trailed 2-0 after a goal by Tavistock's Terran Rogers at 10:58 in the first period. Burford knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Jordan Ritsma at 18:45 in the third period. The Braves' power play was ineffective against the Bulldogs' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Burford's offense rang up 35 shots on Tavistock's net. The Bulldogs were led by Tyler Vandenbussche, who racked up two goals and one assist. Vandenbussche scored the first of his two goals at 12:05 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Hugh Carson picked up the assist. Vandenbussche's next tally made the score 4-3 Burford with 1:56 left in the third period. Matt Harris provided the assist. Burford additionally got points from Carson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Harris, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Burford came via Kyle Chaney, Pat Bates, Broidy Rondelet, and cole malatches, who each chipped in one. The Braves stifled Burford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulldogs were unable to stop Tavistock from sending pucks towards the net, and the Braves eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. Tavistock was led by Taylor Trachsel, who tallied two goals. Trachsel scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. The Braves earned a power play opportunity when malatches was put in the box for interference. Jeremy Munro picked up the assist. Trachsel's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Tavistock with 8:04 left in the second period. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Angus Rowland AP, who had two. Riley Edwards rejected 44 shots on goal for Burford. The Bulldogs incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Trevor Bloch recorded 30 saves for Tavistock. The Braves incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
