Burford falls apart in second, loses to Delhi, 5-1Burford Community Centre Sat, Oct 19, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burford Bulldogs allowed the Delhi Travellers to net three goals during the second period and fell, 5-1. Delhi was led by goalie Nick Heath, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Heath certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.67 entering the contest. Burford's power play was ineffective against the Travellers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Delhi bested its season scoring average. This season, the Travellers average 2.5 goals per contest. Delhi was helped by Brad Ward, who registered one goal. Ward scored 11 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Delhi. Taylor Hockley picked up the assist. Delhi also got points from Mak McLean, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Connor Magwood, who also registered one goal and one assist. Delhi also got a goal from Steve Barati as well. More assists for Delhi came via Nick Cole, who had three and Brendan Schreider and Gavin Crandall, who each chipped in one. The Bulldogs were held below their usual level of production. Burford puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Travellers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Delhi ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hockley was ejected from the game. Nick Trask recorded 25 saves for the Bulldogs. Burford ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Bulldogs, Blaise Burtnick was ejected from the game.
