Delhi shrugs off penalties, upends Tavistock, 5-2Delhi Community Centre Fri, Oct 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Delhi Travellers were able to defeat the Tavistock Braves, 5-2. Delhi was led by Kyle Eggleston, who registered one goal. Eggleston scored 8:40 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Delhi. Andrew Huddle picked up the assist. The Travellers stifled Tavistock's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Delhi forced the Braves goalie Trevor Bloch to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Travellers bested their season scoring average. Delhi averages 2.2 goals per game. Delhi additionally got points from Colin VanDale, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kelsey Vanyermen also scored for Delhi. In addition, Delhi received assists from Brad Ward, Michael Thomlison, and Gavin Crandall, who contributed one a piece. Tavistock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Braves' offense rang up 31 shots on the Travellers' net. Tavistock was helped by Nick Quehl, who tallied one goal. Quehl scored 19:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Tavistock. Mackenzie Kalbfleisch provided the assist. Tavistock also got a goal from Sean Leslie as well. Delhi's Nick Heath stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Travellers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Trevor Bloch made 33 saves for the Braves on 38 shots. Tavistock incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
