New Hamburg blows out Delhi, 4-1Delhi Community Centre Sun, Oct 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Delhi Travellers had trouble finding ways to stop the New Hamburg Firebirds, which beat Travellers, 4-1. Delhi was stymied by New Hamburg netminder Ryan Purcell, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Purcell certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.98 entering the contest. The Firebirds pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 27 penalty minutes. New Hamburg forced the Travellers goalie Jordan Ironside to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Firebirds were led by Sean Kienapple, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kienapple scored 3:06 into the second period to make the score 2-0 New Hamburg. Tyler Randerson picked up the assist. New Hamburg also got points from Randerson, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. New Hamburg also got a goal from Kory Nowak as well. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Kyle Mohr, who had two and Garrett Pollock and Carter Tracey, who contributed one a piece. Delhi's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight New Hamburg power plays. The Travellers were led by Jordan Betzold, who scored the team's only goal. Betzold scored on the power play 19:40 into the second period to make the score 3-1 New Hamburg. Delhi earned a power play opportunity when Anthony Osterling was put in the box for slashing. Brad Ward provided the assist. For New Hamburg, Osterling was ejected from the game. Jordan Ironside made 38 saves for the Travellers on 42 shots. Delhi totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. The Travellers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Austin Puim was ejected from the game.
