Tavistock wins tough contest against Norwich, 3-2Norwich Community Center Sat, Oct 12, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Tavistock Braves and the Norwich Merchants were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Tavistock made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Branden Taylor's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Braves' penalty kill excelled, as Tavistock gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Braves were sparked by Taylor, who had one goal. Taylor scored 16:22 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Tavistock. Neals Vanweley picked up the assist. Tavistock could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Tavistock also got a goal from Travis Rumseyer as well. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Sean Leslie, Matthew Lupton, Josh Bickell, Charlie Irwin, and Angus Rowland AP, who each chipped in one. Norwich excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Merchants' offense operated below they season average. Norwich averages 4.5 goals per game. The Merchants were helped by Troy Lamoure, who tallied one goal. Lamoure scored 11:53 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Todd Kemp assisted on the tally. Drake Morrell also scored for Norwich. More assists for Norwich came via Mitchell Berzins, who had one and Derek Slaght, who had two. Jason Miller made 20 saves for the Braves on 22 shots. Bryan Paolatto rejected 18 shots on goal for Norwich. The Merchants incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Norwich, Kurtis Lavis was ejected from the game.
