Springfield rides Lekkas to victory over Port Huron, 4-1

Stefanos Lekkas had a standout game with 26 saves, and the Springfield Jr. Blues beat the Port Huron Fighting Falcons 4-1.

Port Huron's power play was ineffective against Springfield's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Jr. Blues were sparked by Ji Young Li, who registered one goal. Li scored 3:47 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Springfield. Igor Vladykovskii picked up the assist.

Springfield's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Port Huron power plays. With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Jr. Blues exceeded the 24.9 shots they average per game this year. Springfield got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Others who scored for Springfield included Lancaster Lancaster, Logan Wendling, and Patrick Curry, who scored one goal each. More assists for Springfield came via Jack Sloan, Brendan Jacques, Mike Severson, Joshua Lammon, and Michael Mylchreest, who contributed one a piece.

The Fighting Falcons' offense operated below they season average. Port Huron averages 3.4 goals per game.

The Fighting Falcons were led by Bryan Yim, who scored the team's only goal. Yim scored 10:59 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Springfield. Mitch Maloney assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Blues incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Max Milosek recorded 26 saves for Port Huron. The Fighting Falcons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
