Bismarck wins tough contest against Aberdeen, 4-2

The Bismarck Bobcats and the Aberdeen Wings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Bismarck made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cullen Willox at 8:31 of the third period.

Huba Sekesi was all over the ice for the Bobcats, as he tallied two goals in the win. Sekesi scored on the power play at 18:38 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while short handed 15:17 into the third to make the score 4-2 Bismarck.

Bismarck's offense rang up 48 shots on Aberdeen's net. The Bobcats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Bismarck also got points from Filip Starzynski, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Bismarck came via Nate Repensky, Evan Giesler, and Tyler Dunagan, who contributed one a piece and Stanislav Dzakhov and Dan Kovar, who each chipped in two.

The Wings put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.8 they average per game.

Aberdeen was helped by Erik Baskin, who racked up one goal. Baskin scored on the power play 17:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aberdeen. A roughing penalty on Joonas Huovinen had put the Wings on the power play. Ryan Cook assisted on the tally. Aberdeen also got a goal from Patrick Steinhauser as well. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Jake Horton, Bjorn Sigurdarson, and Jonathan Grebosky, who contributed one a piece.

Aaron Nelson made 28 saves for Bismarck on 30 shots. The Bobcats registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Aberdeen's Chad Catt stopped 44 shots out of the 48 that he faced. The Wings totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play.
