Nick Schmit was superb between the pipes for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, as he did not allow a goal in a 1-0 victory over the Amarillo Bulls. Ben Greiner's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 13:20 in the second period. Carter Lukenda picked up the assist. Rio Grande Valley was paced by Greiner, who racked up one goal. The Killer Bees were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Rio Grande Valley surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Killer Bees' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Amarillo power plays. Rio Grande Valley's defensive play was more effective than usual against Amarillo. The Bulls put an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Amarillo was led by Roman Ammirato, who took six shots. The Killer Bees' Schmit stopped 25 shots out of the 25 that he faced. For Rio Grande Valley, Nick Balboa was ejected from the game. Collin Delia recorded 24 saves for the Bulls. Amarillo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ben Jentsch was ejected from the game.
