Wichita Falls vanquishes Kenai River in shootout, 2-1 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wichita Falls Wildcats defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears in a shootout 2-1 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout.

Kenai River was stymied by Wichita Falls netminder Chase Munroe, who stopped 38 shots during the victory. Munroe managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.04 prior to the game.

The 38 shots that the Wildcats put on net surpassed Wichita Falls' average of 29.6 shots per game this season.

The Wildcats were led by Stan Sojka, who grabbed one goal. Sojka scored 11:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita Falls. Max Reisinger picked up the assist.

The Brown Bears' offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.5 shots per game they average.

Kenai River was led by Nathan Colwell, who scored the team's only goal. Colwell scored on the power play 18:50 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Brown Bears earned a power play opportunity when Ben Kucera was put in the box for roughing. Jacob Davidson assisted on the tally.

Wichita Falls totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Kenai River's Kris Oldham stopped 36 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Brown Bears totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
