Lone Star vanquishes Topeka in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

NYTX Arena    Sat, Nov 16, 2013

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Lone Star Brahmas defeated the Topeka RoadRunners in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 12 attempts between both teams. Topeka got a shootout goal from Jasen Fernsler. Lone Star's other shootout goal was scored by Alexey Solovyev.

The Brahmas' penalty kill excelled, as Lone Star gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

By firing 20 shots on goal, the Brahmas exceeded the 15.5 shots they average per game this year.

Lone Star was led by Matt Lison, who grabbed one goal. Lison scored 4:08 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Lone Star.

The RoadRunners' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Lone Star power plays.

Topeka was led by Tyler Poulsen, who scored the team's only goal. Poulsen scored on the power play 2:57 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The RoadRunners had gained a power play chance when Solovyev was whistled for holding. Jake Kamrass provided the assist.
