Fairbanks hangs on, beats MN Wilderness 2-1

Chandler Madry gave the Fairbanks Ice Dogs the lead in the first period, and the MN Wilderness Wilderness was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-1.

Fairbanks took over the lead for good with a goal by Madry at 11:01 in the first period. Lonnie Clary provided the assist.

The Ice Dogs were led by Brett Gervais, who had one goal and one assist. Gervais scored 13:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fairbanks. Ben Campbell picked up the assist.

In addition, Fairbanks received assists from Doug Rose, who had one.

MN Wilderness failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 20 pucks on goal after averaging 29.9 shots per game this season.

The Wilderness were led by Thomas Lindstrom, who scored the team's only goal. Lindstrom scored 7:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fairbanks. Billy Exell assisted on the tally.

Kevin Aldridge recorded 19 saves for Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. MN Wilderness' Kasimir Kaskisuo stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Wilderness were hit with 10 minutes in penalty time with two majors.
