Austin's Dodd deadly on offense in 3-0 win against Brookings

The Austin Bruins relied on the scoring touch of Trey Dodd, who netted two goals, to beat the Brookings Blizzard, 3-0.

Dodd's tallies came at 5:07 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Austin and 18:59 into the third to make the score 3-0 Austin.

Austin stifled Brookings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bruins' defensive effort looked to be improved. Austin averages 2.2 goals allowed per game. The Bruins put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.4 they average per game.

Brennan Sanford also scored for Austin. Other players who recorded assists for Austin were Drew Anderson, Jay Dickman, Niko Hildenbrand, Easton Viitala, and Jake Arroyo, who each chipped in one.

The Blizzard were below their usual level of shot production, taking 20 shots compared to the 28.1 Brookings averages. The Blizzard could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Brookings averages 2.1 goals per game.

The Blizzard were led by Michelle Marchetti, who took four shots.

Nicholas Lehr made 20 saves for Austin on 20 shots. The Bruins totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Brookings' Austin Priebe stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Blizzard totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
