Amarillo survives Rio Grande Valley comeback, wins 4-2

The Amarillo Bulls survived a determined comeback attempt by the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on the way to a 4-2 win.

Amarillo took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Rio Grande Valley storm back on a Tyler Bruneteau goal 1:02 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Bulls got the win with help from a great game by Matt Sieckhaus, who had one goal and two assists. Sieckhaus scored 13:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amarillo. Roman Ammirato assisted on the tally.

Amarillo excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Bulls were below their usual level of shot production, taking 23 shots compared to the 29.7 Amarillo averages.

Amarillo also had goals scored by Brady Ferguson, who had one and Kyle Gattelaro, who had two. More assists for Amarillo came via Ben Jentsch, Brendan McGuire, Mike Davis, and Joe Grabowski, who contributed one a piece.

Rio Grande Valley also got a goal from JB Baker as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rio Grande Valley were Ben Greiner, Aleksi Luhtalampi, and Sean Mostrom, who each chipped in one.

The Bulls' Collin Delia stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Amarillo totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Nick Schmit took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Olli Kalkaja who made seven saves. The Killer Bees ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
