Wichita Falls wins tough contest against Kenai River, 3-2Soldotna Sports Center Fri, Nov 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Wichita Falls Wildcats escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Wichita Falls gained the winning advantage on a goal by Will Vosejpka 19:17 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The Wildcats were paced by Vosejpka, who tallied one goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The 32 shots that Wichita Falls put on net surpassed the Wildcats' average of 28.3 shots per game this season. Wichita Falls also got a goal from Sam Pzazza as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Nick Farmer, Rudy Junda, Kirk Van Arkel, Jake Townsend, and Kyle Bauman, who each chipped in one. Kenai River forced Wichita Falls goalie Chase Munroe to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Brown Bears were helped by Nathan Colwell, who racked up one goal. Colwell scored on the power play 4:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kenai River. Kenai River had gotten the advantage when the Wildcats' Matt Koch was sent off for tripping. Jacob Davidson picked up the assist. Jack Gessert also scored for Kenai River. In addition, Kenai River received assists from Jake Bushey, Albin Karlsson, and Sebastian Fuchs, who contributed one a piece. Wichita Falls' Munroe stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Wildcats totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Zach Quinn recorded 29 saves for the Brown Bears. Kenai River incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
